First, a few words about the game itself. The creators describe Quarantine Zone: The Last Check as "Papers, Please with zombies." Players act as a duty officer at a checkpoint in a world struck by a zombie apocalypse. Their main task is to check refugees for the zombie virus and occasionally defend the checkpoint against hordes of undead.

Brigada Games announced reaching the milestone of 500,000 wishlists on May 19. At that time, Quarantine Zone: The Last Check held the 60th position in the list of the most wished-for upcoming games on Steam. However, it has now climbed to 51st place, surpassing games like State of Decay 3, Marathon, Europa Universalis V, SILENT HILL f, and many others.

Kiril Oreshkin, the co-founder of Polden Publishing responsible for the marketing of Quarantine Zone: The Last Check, noted in a separate post that in recent days, the game has been collecting 45,000 wishlists per day. This surge was driven by influencers to whom Brigada Games granted access to a yet-to-be-released demo version—gamers will be able to play it starting May 22.

Quarantine Zone: The Last Check had already made a splash earlier in the year. Initially, it appeared in Polish TikTok at the start of the year, and then in March, the blogger Fooster posted a YouTube video about the game, which has garnered over a million views to date. However, the main boost, according to Oreshkin, came from videos released in April and May by DieDevDie—each receiving tens of millions of views on YouTube and TikTok. It was after these videos that the simulator truly went viral.

For Brigada Games, the immense popularity of Quarantine Zone: The Last Check came as a pleasant surprise. While the studio aimed from the beginning to create a game capable of trending, they did not anticipate such explosive wishlist growth. Oreshkin notes that just a few months ago, the developers expected the project to amass around 100,000 wishlist additions by its release, but the reality has been far better.

The release of Quarantine Zone: The Last Check is planned for September 2025. Brigada Games will announce the exact date later.
