Steam will introduce tags for games with accessibility features
Valve is preparing to add an optional section to game pages on Steam that will inform users about the availability of accessibility support in projects. For instance, whether there are features for adjusting text size or a voice assistant for the game menu.
Developers can already indicate on the Steamworks website what accessibility options are implemented in their games. Features must be selected from options provided by Valve. These are divided into four categories:
- gameplay options such as customizable difficulty levels and the ability to save at any point;
- audio options like voice-over menus and extended volume control;
- display options like alternative colors and camera adjustments;
- input options like controlling with keyboard only, mouse, or touch input, and converting speech in chats to text and vice versa.
These are the accessibility options developers can specify
The Steam search will also have the ability to filter games by these markers.
Valve has not stated exactly when this marking will be added to Steam. It is only known that it will happen by the end of 2025.
