The free giveaway helped Metro 2033 Redux set a new online record on Steam
On the evening of April 14, the studio 4A Games and publisher Deep Silver launched a free giveaway of Metro 2033 Redux on Steam, GOG, and Xbox in celebration of the series' 15th anniversary. As a result, the shooter’s online presence reached a new record milestone, at least on Steam.

According to SteamDB, yesterday the number of concurrent players in the Steam version of Metro 2033 Redux rose to 13,592 people. For comparison, the previous record was nearly three times lower at 5,139 people, which Metro 2033 Redux set seven years ago in April 2018.

The giveaway of Metro 2033 Redux will last until the evening of April 16. It is possible that the game might once again break its own online record in Steam before the giveaway ends.
The status of the shooter’s online presence in GOG and Xbox remains unknown.
As a reminder, Metro 2033 Redux is a remaster of the original Metro 2033, which was released in August 2014. Besides PC and Xbox, the title is available on PlayStation and Nintendo Switch.
