Ex-employees from Mojang and Coffee Stain have launched a new independent publishing company called Three Friends
A team consisting of former employees of Mojang and Coffee Stain has created a new initiative known as Three Friends.
The label is the brainchild of Albert Säfström, Daniel Kaplan, Sebastian Badylak, and Johan Hermeren. Operating under the principles of 'Get in Early, Build it Right', 'Pick the Right Battles', and 'Guidance, Not Control', the label aims to nurture indie endeavors across the Nordic region.
According to Säfström, crafting a successful game isn't about one pivotal idea but involves navigating countless smaller decisions. "The essential thing is making the right choices at the right moments, which accumulate to form the end result," he explained. The group is committed to helping development teams retain focus, allowing concepts to evolve effectively while optimizing the use of time and resources.
Kaplan emphasized the importance of refining core gameplay early on, citing titles like Valheim and Deep Rock Galactic. "We collaborate with developers from the start to help identify what uniquely defines their game, enabling them to enhance those aspects," he stated.
Three Friends plans to announce the developers and games it will be working with later in the year.
