An indie game about animals sliding down a hill garnered 80,000 wishlists on Steam in a week
A new indie hit may appear on Steam. Solo developer The Sledding Company revealed that his multiplayer game, Sledding Game, managed to go viral and garnered 11.4 times more wishlists in a week than he expected.
Sledding Game
The story was highlighted by the Telegram channel Gamedev suffering, and the developer himself shared the figures on social media.
First, a few words about the title. Sledding Game is a multiplayer game where frogs, penguins, polar bears, and other animals enjoy sledding down hills. According to its creator, characters can be customized, and lobbies can accommodate up to 100 people.
The developer says he started working on Sledding Game just over a month ago. Around the same time, he began promoting the project and regularly posting funny clips of the game on social media. These videos resonated with the audience, particularly on Instagram*, where the most popular gameplay clip on the Sledding Game page has 2.3 million views.
In mid-January, Sledding Game got a Steam page, and the game was quickly added to many wishlists. The developer admits he did not expect such popularity. According to his calculations, Sledding Game collected 15.8 thousand wishlists on the first day and 80 thousand in the first week. This is an excellent result, considering the developer only hoped to reach about 7,000 wishlists by the end of the week.
Sledding Game does not yet have a release date. Whether it will be available outside of Steam is unknown.
