GOG has become a member of the European organization for the preservation of games

The digital store GOG has taken another step forward in preserving old games for future generations of gamers. It announced its joining of the European Federation of Game Archives, Museums, and Preservation Projects (EFGAMP).

The GOG team noted that their store has become the first Polish company to join the ranks of EFGAMP. Other members of the association include the Embracer Group and its game archive, the Roman video game museum VIGAMUS, the Royal Library of Denmark, and over a dozen other institutions.

The partnership with EFGAMP is expected to further motivate GOG to engage in the preservation of gaming heritage.

Currently, GOG plans to actively collaborate with government and public organizations worldwide. Additionally, the store aims to launch several more projects to help ensure the eternal life of iconic games.

Recall that in November 2024, GOG launched the GOG Preservation Program to support the operation of older games on modern PCs. Initially, the program included over 100 games, such as The Witcher: Enhanced Edition, Fallout: New Vegas, Blade Runner, and Ultima 4. To date, the participating titles have received 566 different improvements.
