Cooldown Games, a newly established publishing company, has been founded by veterans from Gearbox, Id, and Warner.
Several seasoned professionals from the gaming industry have joined forces to launch Cooldown Games, a new publishing firm focused on delivering high-quality games for both PC and console platforms.
This new venture was established by a team of seven publishing experts with backgrounds at notable companies such as Gearbox Publishing, Id Software, and Warner Bros, among others.
The founding members comprise Matt Charles as chief product officer, Erick Cobbs as chief business officer, Jackson Hardesty as chief operations officer, Brad Schliesser as chief revenue officer, Jimmy Sieben as chief technology officer, and Jeff Skal as chief marketing officer.
Steve Gibson, who previously served as president of Gearbox Publishing, will assume the role of CEO. The leadership team collectively brings decades of publishing experience, contributing to the success of eight games each surpassing the one million sales mark.
According to the company’s announcement, Cooldown Games intends to emphasize games that accommodate modern gamers' busy schedules. These games are designed to be enjoyed at the player's preferred speed, eliminating the need for significant time commitments to participate or stay current.
Gibson expressed, "Our team's conviction is that sensible business strategies will be a lasting advantage for Cooldown Games, possibly offering a refreshing change to recent industry patterns."
Gibson added, "The core aim is to assist game creators in reaching vast audiences while ensuring a rewarding experience for all participants. Let's collaborate to create remarkable games."
Last year, Gearbox Publishing experienced layoffs due to the restructuring initiatives undertaken by Embracer. Additional employees were also let go from Gearbox Entertainment following its acquisition by Take-Two.
In April, Gearbox Publishing's San Francisco branch was renamed Arc Games. This office was formerly known as Perfect World Entertainment before its acquisition by Embracer and subsequent rebranding under Gearbox.
