Balatro and AFK Journey recognized as winners in the 2024 App Store Awards

Apple has unveiled the winners of its 2024 App Store Awards, recognizing several apps and games that have made significant cultural impacts and enhanced the creativity and lives of users globally. Among the celebrated titles are AFK Journey, What If…? An Immersive Story, Squad Busters, Thank Goodness You're Here!, and Balatro+.

According to Apple, this year, 17 standout apps and games were acknowledged for fostering creativity, helping users reach important goals, and enhancing family interactions. The winning developers have delivered applications that not only enrich users' experiences but also resonate culturally worldwide.

Balatro+ took home the accolade for the best Apple Arcade game of the year. Meanwhile, AFK Journey, Squad Busters, and Thank Goodness You're Here! were recognized for their excellence as iPhone game of the year, iPad game of the year, and Mac game of the year, respectively.

The game Thrasher: Arcade Odyssey was awarded the title of Apple Vision Pro game of the year. Additionally, Wordle's NYT Games and The Wreck were commended for their influential roles in people's lives and communities.

Apple CEO Tim Cook expressed delight in celebrating these developers, praising their innovative use of Apple’s technologies to produce impactful experiences for users and communities. "The achievements of this year's honorees highlight the immense creativity unlocked through apps," Cook stated.

Furthermore, last month, AFK Journey was also named the game of the year on Google Play, selected by the editorial team of the store.
