Roblox is "starting to fight" App Store and Google Play commissions by offering players more Robux when they make purchases through their ecosystem
Roblox has joined the ranks of companies opposing the massive fees from Apple and Google for in-app purchases (IAP). Now users can get 25% more of the in-game currency, Robux, by purchasing it through the official Roblox ecosystem, bypassing mobile stores.

The company offers two alternative methods to top up: through the website or using gift cards. There are a total of six payment options available. The difference is most noticeable with the largest purchase. When recharging $199.99, players receive 24,000 Robux instead of the standard 22,500.
Roblox emphasized in its official blog that this is not a temporary promotion but a long-term initiative.
A company representative clarified in an interview with TechCrunch that, “Apple and Google remain our important partners. However, we are constantly seeking ways to offer our community of gamers and creators additional benefits.”
At the same time, Roblox itself takes a significantly higher percentage from its UGC creators than Apple's and Google's commission. The platform retains 70% of the revenue from sales of items and paid games made in Robux.
The new feature already caught the attention of Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney, who has long been fighting against Apple's policies. “It’s great to see Roblox finally challenging the ‘Apple tax’ alongside us,” Sweeney commented.
