Report: Sony developing new PlayStation handheld device

It seems that Sony is developing a new portable console compatible with PlayStation 5 games.

As reported by Bloomberg, insiders indicated the console is still in the early stages, potentially years from release, and noted that Sony might opt not to proceed with its development.

According to the report, this forthcoming device would enhance the existing PS Portal, initially planned as an independent handheld rather than a device requiring a connection to a PS5.

Recently, comments from Xbox's Phil Spencer revealed that Microsoft is exploring its own handheld models.

At the same time, Sony introduced cloud streaming support for the PS Portal for PlayStation Plus members last week. This feature, currently in beta, enables users to play games without a PS5 connection, although it remains in its preliminary stages.

Notably, the PS Portal debuted a year ago and quickly sold out within two days of its release.
