PlayStation Plus introduces cloud streaming beta for PS Portal

Sony has announced that cloud streaming is coming to the PlayStation Portal for those subscribed to PlayStation Plus.

According to a recent post on the official PlayStation blog, this feature is currently in beta and enables gameplay on the Portal without needing a PS5.

The service offers streaming for over 120 PS5 titles from the PlayStation Plus library, supporting resolutions up to 1080p at 60 frames per second.

This functionality is exclusive to PlayStation Plus Premium users and is accessible only in selected regions, including Austria, Belgium, Canada, France, Germany, Japan, the United States, and several others in Europe.

Initially, cloud streaming will only support PS5 games, and features like game trials or personal game streaming are not yet part of the offering. PlayStation emphasized that this beta phase is an "experimental offering" and that features might evolve over time, not necessarily indicative of the final version.

No concrete timeline has been given by Sony for the full rollout of this feature on its handheld device.

The PlayStation Portal debuted a year ago, following its announcement in August 2023. The device quickly became popular, with initial stocks selling out just two days after its release.
