The online Call of Duty player count has exceeded 300,000 on Steam for the first time since December 2022, thanks to the release of Black Ops 6
Black Ops 6 successfully launched on Steam, despite a simultaneous release on Game Pass. According to SteamDB, the peak concurrent player count for the main Call of Duty HQ application reached 306,460 during the first weekend following the release of the new series installment.
It is worth noting that it is impossible to accurately count the number of concurrent players in Black Ops 6. Since 2022, each new franchise title is linked to the Call of Duty HQ hub application. Currently, this hub includes not only Modern Warfare II and III, but also the free-to-play Warzone.
However, Black Ops 6 has generated significant interest from users. For comparison, before the release, the average hub player count did not exceed 70-80 thousand.
Additionally, BO6 set a new record for the number of concurrent players in Steam among all premium Call of Duty titles. At the launch of Modern Warfare II, the peak was 263,000 players, and at the release of MWIII, it was 190,000.
In this respect, Black Ops 6 only falls short of Warzone 2.0, which attracted over 491,000 concurrent players in November 2022. In December of the same year, the player count exceeded 307,000 (during a free weekend), a mark it has not approached since.
Currently, Black Ops 6 has over 3,700 reviews on Steam, with 63% being positive. This is significantly better than the results of the two previous games: MWII and MWIII mostly received negative reviews — 20% and 31%, respectively.
