Head of Xbox Game Studios, Alan Hartman, is leaving Microsoft after more than 30 years of service

Alan Hartman, a veteran of Microsoft, has decided to leave the corporation. At the end of November, he will step down from his role as head of Xbox Game Studios and retire.

Hartman worked at Microsoft for 36 years. He joined the corporation in 1988 as a multimedia specialist in the CD-ROM group. Later, he worked at Dreamworks Interactive and Digital Anvil studios, and in 2005, he became a leader at Turn 10 Studios, which is responsible for the Forza Motorsport game series.

Hartman became the head of Xbox Game Studios just a year ago, succeeding Matt Booty, the current president of Xbox Game Content and Studios.

After Hartman's departure, the position of head of Xbox Game Studios will be taken over by Craig Duncan, who currently leads Rare, the studio known for Sea of Thieves. In turn, Joe Neate and Jim Horth, longtime employees of the studio, will take the helm at Rare.
