Crime Scene Cleaner generates $5.4 million on Steam in 60 days: how it compares to other PlayWay games

Polish publisher PlayWay has shared some of the results its simulation game Crime Scene Cleaner has achieved in its first two months. Here is how it compares to other titles in the company’s portfolio.

Crime Scene Cleaner generates $5.4 million on Steam in 60 days

According to PlayWay CEO Krzysztof Kostowski, Crime Scene Cleaner has sold over 355k units on Steam in the first 60 days since its August 14 launch. There were also just over 21k refunds.

Crime Scene Cleaner surpassed $5.44 million in gross revenue (before platform fees and taxes) on the store, meaning it has already recouped its budget of PLN 1.4 million ($356k) many times over.

As can be seen from the screenshot below, the game also boasts a solid median playtime of 11 hours and 37 minutes, with 15.5k daily active users (DAU).

In a separate post, Kostowski shared some data on other games in PlayWay’s publishing portfolio. Crime Scene Cleaner ranks 4th in gross revenue generated in the first 60 days of launch:

  • House Flipper 2 — $10 million;
  • Car Mechanic Simulator 21 — $8.11 million;
  • House Flipper 1 — $6.95 million;
  • Crime Scene Cleaner — $5.44 million;
  • Infection Free Zone — $5.41 million;
  • Contraband Police — $5 million;
  • Car Mechanic Simulator, including DLC — $4.8 million.

PlayWay owns a majority stake in Crime Scene Cleaner developer President Studio, which is now also working on titles like Ship Builder and Celestial Empire. The game currently has an “Overwhelmingly Positive” (97%) rating on Steam based on more than 9,200 user reviews. According to SteamDB, it peaked at 13.5k concurrent players at launch.
