Former Crunchyroll executives have unveiled a new independent publishing company, Shorelines Games
Shoreline Games, a new independent publisher, has officially opened its doors, announcing its slate of upcoming releases for early 2025.
The company was established by Keith Kawamura and Jenny Zha, both based in the United States.
Kawamura, acting as CEO, was formerly the general manager at Too Corporation Americas, and has previous experience with firms such as Unknown Worlds Entertainment, Perfect World, and Crunchyroll.
Jenny Zha, the Chief Operating Officer, previously served as the CEO of the marketing firm Infinitize and has worked at Rakuten Viki, Melwood Global, and Crunchyroll as well.
Shoreline Games is set to release the turn-based strategy game Nova Hearts from Lightbulb Crew in the first quarter of 2025, followed by Zeitglas' Sanatorium - A Mental Asylum Simulator in the second quarter, and Onirism from Crimson Tales in late Q2 to early Q3.
Regarding their approach, Kawamura stated: "With over 17,000 games being released yearly, our goal is to find games that are systems-based, have a very clear narrative throughline, and provide it with the visibility needed to cut through all the noise that's out there. I love telling stories, and I want Shoreline and the games it works with to be the extension of that with a clear path to enjoyment."
Zha expressed: "What we've learned from our experience is how to nurture communities and fandoms wherever they are. We identify with games because we see a reflection of our identity therein, and that's something we want to pull into the spotlight for each of these games and communities we are working with."
