The Russian government "generally supported" a bill that requires Apple to allow RuStore on its devices

Three months ago, a group of Russian deputies drafted a bill to ban the sale of smartphones and tablets in Russia without access to the RuStore app store. Their initiative is primarily aimed at Apple devices. According to TASS, the government recently approved this idea.

However, there were some stipulations. The government asked for the bill to be revised with a number of changes. For example, to define the legal status of app store owners and determine how to enforce the requirements outlined in the bill.

Anton Gorelkin, Deputy Chairman of the State Duma's Information Policy Committee and one of the authors of the bill, stated in his Telegram channel that all amendments will be considered. He hopes that the State Duma will pass the bill in all three readings by the end of the year.
