CD PROJEKT has been sued over GOG
The Polish group of companies CD PROJEKT is facing new challenges. It has announced that a class action lawsuit has been filed against its GOG store in the United States. The plaintiffs claim that it discloses users' information.
According to CD PROJEKT, the store is accused of violating the Video Privacy Protection Act (VPPA). Details of the lawsuit have not been disclosed.
The VPPA was enacted in 1988 and originally applied to services selling and renting videotapes, but over time it has been expanded to include video, audio, and gaming online platforms. It prohibits companies from sharing data about customer actions and preferences without their consent.
Currently, CD PROJEKT is "assessing the validity of the claims" in the lawsuit.
