Simon Carless: 3 million people have played Black Myth: Wukong on PlayStation 5

One of the most successful releases of the year, Black Myth: Wukong, attracted a large audience on Sony consoles. Gaming expert Simon Carless, citing data from GameDiscoverCo, reported that as of today, PlayStation 5 owners have purchased the action RPG 3 million times.

Two-thirds of the players who purchased the PlayStation 5 version of Black Myth: Wukong are from China. Carless notes that only a few games for this console have a higher proportion of Chinese gamers. One of them is Genshin Impact.

Earlier, Bloomberg reported that the PlayStation 5 became the best-selling consumer electronics product on the Chinese platform Alibaba in the week leading up to the release of Black Myth: Wukong. It is assumed that the console was sold out specifically because of the game. This is quite a rare situation for China, considering the popularity of free-to-play mobile and PC games in the country.

Carless did not disclose current sales numbers for Black Myth: Wukong on Steam. According to VG Insights, sales might reach 16 million copies. Gamalytic reports a slightly lower figure—15.5 million copies.

The developers of Black Myth: Wukong mentioned last week that the game sold a total of 10 million copies in three days.
