On the day of its release, the peak online player count for Core Keeper on Steam exceeded 30,000 people

On August 27, the indie sandbox dungeon adventure game Core Keeper left Steam Early Access, where it had been for two and a half years. According to SteamDB, the game's online presence on Valve's platform reached 31,597 concurrent users on its release day.

While not a record, it was close. The only time Core Keeper had higher numbers was at the start of its early access in March 2022, when it attracted 34,508 simultaneous users.

Interestingly, right before the release, Core Keeper held a free weekend, yet even then, the online presence was significantly lower. On August 25, Core Keeper peaked at 18,554 concurrent users. Nevertheless, it remains one of the best results in the game's history. It is also known that the event brought 200,000 new players to Core Keeper.

Core Keeper's online dynamics on Steam

Fredrik Präntare, the founder of Pugstorm, the studio behind Core Keeper, admitted on X that he did not expect to see such a large online turnout for the project on its release day.

Core Keeper became successful long before the release of version 1.0. In 2022, in just the first two days of early access, it sold 100,000 copies, and by the release day, its sales on Steam had exceeded 2 million copies.

Core Keeper is currently available not only on Steam but also on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series consoles.
