Delta Force: Hawk Ops peaks at over 21k concurrent players during Alpha, hits 1 million wishlists on Steam

Tencent’s upcoming shooter Delta Force: Hawk Ops is gaining momentum ahead of its launch. The game, which is currently in Alpha test, is showing great numbers on Steam.

Delta Force: Hawk Ops hits 1 million wishlists on Steam, with its Alpha peaking at over 21k CCU

On August 6, Tencent’s subsidiary TiMi Studio Group started a limited playtest of Delta Force: Hawk Ops. The Alpha test includes two multiplayer modes: Hazard Operations (3-person squad fighting AI enemies and squads of other players in Tarkov-like extraction mode) and Havoc Warfare (32vs23 PvP maps).

It is unclear how many users have already participated in the playtest, but Delta Force: Hawk Ops peaked at 21,806 concurrent players on Steam earlier this week (via SteamDB). Players have a chance to receive an invite via the game’s official website, Steam’s playtest feature, Twitch Drops, or special giveaways.

The CCU count will likely increase as more people get their hands on the Alpha test.

Delta Force: Hawk Ops surpassed 100k wishlists on June 19, less than two weeks after the launch of its Steam page. On August 9, TiMi Studio announced that the game has already reached 1 million wishlists on the platform.

Hawk Ops currently ranks as the 15th most wishlisted upcoming game on Steam, right between Sid Meier’s Civilization VII and Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2.

Tencent acquired the Delta Force rights from Embracer’s subsidiary THQ Nordic, which got it from the original developer NovaLogic in 2016.

The upcoming game, based on 2003’s Delta Force: Black Hawk Down, is being developed by Team Jade. It is an internal team of TiMi Studio Group, best known as the creator of Tencent’s multi-billion dollar hits like Honor of Kings and Call of Duty: Mobile.

“We’re pushing Unreal Engine to its limits to deliver a truly cross-platform experience that allows players worldwide to immerse themselves in a vivid world of deep characters, explosive destruction, and top-notch action…all worthy of the ‘Delta Force’ name,” game director Shadow Guo said on Steam, adding that Delta Force “was the first shooter I ever played.”

In addition to its free-to-play multiplayer modes, Delta Force: Hawk Ops will feature a premium campaign inspired by Black Hawk Down. The game is expected to launch in 2024, but Tencent and TiMi haven’t yet announced the exact release date.
