Hybe Interactive Media has successfully secured $80 million through a strategic investment to boost its game publishing endeavors.

Hybe, a major South Korean entertainment corporation recognized for managing the globally famous boy band BTS, handles several music labels worldwide. Hybe IM, its division specialized in video games, was initiated in April 2022.

The funding round of $80 million was spearheaded by Makers Fund, with support from IMM Investment and Hybe as well. The funds are aimed at enhancing their development and publishing capacities.

The company has launched two mobile games: Rhythm Hive, a rhythm action game, and BTS Island: In the SEOM, a match-three puzzle game. Additionally, it has released the RPG Astra: Knights of Veda by Flint and is set to publish the fantasy character collection game Oz Re:write by Macovill.

Last year saw investments from Hybe IM and Hybe in Korean developer Aqua Tree, followed by another investment in the Korean game studio Action Square earlier this year.

"This significant investment represents a pivotal moment for HYBE IM in bolstering our stance within the global gaming sector," said HYBE IM President Wooyong Chung.

"With support from Makers Fund, IMM Investment, and HYBE, we aim to achieve sustainable growth and innovation, establishing ourselves as a comprehensive game company," he added.
