Steam introduced separate pages for demos, along with a number of other new features
Valve has made changes to Steam regarding demos. Now, their functionality on the platform is much closer to that of regular games.
- A “Add to Library” button is now available for demo versions. Demos sent to the library do not need to be installed immediately. Installation can be postponed to a more convenient time.
- You can install a demo even when the full version of the game is already in the library.
- You can manually remove a demo from your account. To do this, right-click on it and click "Manage" > "Remove from Account." Demos removed from the device automatically disappear from the library.
- Developers can create separate Steam pages for demos with detailed descriptions, screenshots, and trailers. Thanks to this, platform users can now leave reviews for demos just like they do for regular games. If there are too many negative reviews, the demo's visibility on Steam will decrease (conversely, a large number of positive reviews will increase visibility).
- Email notifications about demo releases have been introduced. These will be sent to those who have added the game to their wishlist or subscribed to the developer’s or publisher’s page.
