A top manager at AMD stated that the success of the PlayStation 4 helped the company avoid bankruptcy

The company AMD might have faced bankruptcy without the PlayStation 4 console, claims Renato Fragale, Senior Director of Client Relations in the Consumer and Gaming Segments at AMD. He mentioned this in the description of his LinkedIn profile.

Fragale described the launch of the PlayStation 4 as one of the most successful in AMD's history. However, he did not disclose how much AMD earned from it.

PlayStation 4 is Sony's first console to use an AMD processor. In 2013, former NVIDIA Vice President of Content and Technology, Tony Tamasi, claimed that Sony's partner in producing the PlayStation 4 could have been his company instead of AMD, but after negotiations, NVIDIA deemed the collaboration unprofitable.
