Rumor: Steam Deck may integrate a mobile game and app emulator
VR enthusiast Bradley Lynch discovered a mention of Waydroid in the Steam database — an open-source emulator that allows Android applications to run on Linux devices. According to him, Valve might be working on adding Waydroid support to the portable PC Steam Deck.
Lynch noted that at the end of May, a hidden Waydroid application appeared in the Steam library, which can be seen through the SteamDB service.
On Reddit, it is also reported that Valve recently requested access from the creators of Waydroid to the emulator's GitHub repository. Allegedly, they wanted to make some changes.
Neither Valve nor the creators of Waydroid have commented on the rumors.
