Steam users are playing with controllers more actively than ever before, with Xbox controllers being the most popular

The popularity of controllers is growing in Steam. According to Valve's calculations, the average daily use of controllers has tripled over the past six years—from 5% to 15%.

Valve did not specify how many people play with controllers. Instead, they noted that Steam currently supports over 300 models of controllers, with Xbox gamepads being the most popular—they are used in 59% of gaming sessions with controllers. PlayStation controllers are the second most popular (26% of sessions), and the top three is rounded out by the portable PC, Steam Deck (10% of sessions).

Valve also mentioned that the Steam input system is used in 42% of sessions with controllers.
