Steam users could have spent $19 billion on games they never played

This conclusion was reached by journalists from PCGamesN after analyzing the game libraries of Steam users using the SteamIDFinder service.

$19 billion is an approximate estimate. As explained by PCGamesN, only 10% of Steam accounts (73 million) are publicly accessible and included in the SteamIDFinder database. The total value of games that have never been launched on these accounts is $1.9 billion. To illustrate the situation across Steam, the journalists simply multiplied this number by ten.

Previously, based on a survey of 2,000 residents from the USA and the UK, the company Ultra calculated that only 44% of PC games in gamers' digital libraries are launched on a regular basis. Surveyed gamers have never played a quarter of the PC games they purchased.
