Sales of INDIKA on Steam reached 55,000 copies, which is below the developer's expectations

An art-house adventure about a crazy nun from the studio Odd Meter sold 55,000 copies on the Steam platform within a month. With the addition of console sales, they could surpass 100,000 by the end of June.

INDIKA

These figures were shared with the publication "Cyber" by Dmitriy Svetlov, the head of the studio. He also noted that sales were lower than expected. He cites the following main reasons:

  • market saturation (“many projects are released, and the sales tails are getting shorter”);
  • competition with streaming platforms (“more and more players prefer to watch games on YouTube, especially when it comes to short story games”).

Previously, the company 11 bit studios, which published the game, noted that it was satisfied with the game's initial performance.

Svetlov explains this position by noting that the publisher has a different perspective, assessing the game's performance differently: “'Indika' is performing quite well, considering its smaller budget and marketing campaign scale compared to other 11 bit studios games. This can be considered a success. The publisher is counting on the game to break even and start generating profit within a year.”

55,000 copies with 2,500 reviews suggest a multiplier of 22 for this game. According to GameDiscoverCo, this is above the market average.
