Lethal Company becomes top-rated game of 2023 on Steam, also breaking into top 5 new titles by peak concurrent players

Lethal Company continues to gain momentum following its successful launch on Steam. In addition to its chart-topping positions, the co-op indie horror is now the top-rated game of 2023 on the store.

Lethal Company is already 5th most played game and the top-rated title of 2023 on Steam

According to SteamDB, Lethal Company has received over 100k user reviews since its Early Access launch on October 24. The game currently has a 97.32% score, making it the top-rated new release of 2023 on the store.

It is worth noting that SteamDB uses its own formula biased towards the average rating of 50% to estimate the score, so it may slightly differ from the one displayed on the store (to see how it works, check out this detailed description).

Below are the 10 top-rated games on Steam released in 2023:

  1. Lethal Company — 97.32% based on 103,267 reviews
  2. HoloCure — 96.98% based on 25,693 reviews
  3. Pizza Tower — 96.37% based on 47,560 reviews
  4. Resident Evil 4 — 96.39% based on 112,674 reviews
  5. VPet (free-to-play) — 96.28% based on 31,961 reviews
  6. Cats Hidden in Paris (free-to-play) — 96.15% based on 10,963 reviews
  7. Dave the Diver — 96.02% based on 76,586 reviews
  8. Papa’s Freezeria Deluxe — 95.74% based on 6,335 reviews
  9. Baldur’s Gate 3 — 95.74% based on 478,400 reviews
  10. Brotato — 95.74% based on 65,976 reviews

If we take into account only premium titles with over 100k user reviews, Lethal Company would still be a leader, followed by Resident Evil 4, Baldur’s Gate 3, Hogwarts Legacy (90.93%), and BattleBit Remastered (88.85%).

Lethal Company is also the top-rated game of 2023 on the Steam250 list with 99% positive reviews, ranking above BG3, RE4, Pizza Tower, and HoloCure.

Lethal Company also continues to break its peak concurrent player count daily. On November 27, it peaked at 184,015 CCU, which is an impressive result for an indie title made by a solo developer.

This makes it the fifth best new release of 2023 by peak CCU, right between Starfield and Resident Evil 4. The top 10 can be seen below:

Lethal Company also became the highest-grossing game on Steam for the week of November 21-28, trailing only Steam Deck. It ranked above free-to-play hits like Counter-Strike 2 and Apex Legends, and premium titles like EA Sports FC 24, Cyberpunk 2077, and Call of Duty.

This is a huge success for developer Zeekerss, who previously made UGC games for Roblox. He hasn’t yet disclosed the title’s sales, but GameDiscoverCo’s Simon Carless estimated its sales at 642k copies with a projected gross revenue of $5.7 million in the first three weeks after its Early Access launch.
