Media: Apple has fired a number of App Store employees in China. They were bribed by game developers
Several App Store employees in China have been accused of abuse of office, sources tell The Information. According to the publication, they were contacted by developers asking for help with the promotion of games in the store.
It is alleged that in exchange for promoting games, developers paid App Store employees for lunches and took them to nightclubs.
Shortly after the situation became known, Apple launched an internal investigation. As a result, the company fired at least five people.
Apple told The Information that it would not comment on the allegations against employees. But she pointed out that the company has strict business ethics rules and all reports of violations are thoroughly investigated. If necessary, Apple can, in particular, dismiss violators.
