Dwarf Fortress earned $9 million on Steam in six days

The creators of Dwarf Fortress, in an interview with PC Gamer, said that the Steam version of their game has already been bought 300 thousand times. According to the calculations of journalists, this means that Dwarf Fortress generated $9 million without taking into account Valve‘s 30% share, or about $6.3 million, if you still take into account the commission.

The developers admitted that this is a very large amount, but stressed that the game has 20 years of development behind it. They joked that they had found a great way to save money: not to sell anything for two decades, and then take all the proceeds at once.
