Xbox Game Pass is responsible for 15% of the revenue of Microsoft's gaming division
Funny. Microsoft itself now doesn’t really believe in the dominant role of subscriptions in the future. This conclusion can be reached based on another statement by Phil Spencer (he really said a lot yesterday).
According to him, subscription not only does not account for a significant share of the company’s gaming revenue, but it will not grow to more tangible values over time.
“Game Pass is responsible, perhaps, for about 15% of revenue from our content and services. I don’t believe that the share will be bigger. I am sure that overall revenue will grow, but in the future it will not be such that it will account for 50-70% of all revenue,” Phil said.
“On the console, we are seeing a decrease in the growth rate of subscriptions. Mainly because we reached out to everyone on the platform who wanted to subscribe,” he adds.
Earlier this month, Microsoft announced that Xbox Game Pass revenue for 2021 was $2.9 billion.
