Steam will prohibit adding ratings, award logos and other third-party information to game banners

From September 1, new rules for the design of game banners will take effect on Steam. For example, developers will no longer be allowed to write about discounts, other games and critics’ ratings on images, and they will also not be able to use quotes from reviews.

As Valve explains, the developers began to add too much unnecessary information to the banners. Sometimes there is so much of it that it is difficult even to read the name. All this misleads gamers.

The company stressed that there are already designated places on the project pages on Steam for most of the information from banners.
