500 thousand copies of Temtem have been sold on Steam. Its authors were inspired by the Pokémon franchise

On January 21, Temtem, an MMO adventure game inspired by Pokemon, was released in early Steam access. The digital circulation of the game has already reached 500 thousand copies.

The success was announced on Twitter by the developer of the title — the Spanish studio Crema.

At the same time, she released a large-scale patch with improved trading and other mechanics. Note that 50% of game content, including endgame content, is now available in Temtem. In total, this is about 20 hours of gameplay.

Temtem is a Unity—based game about collecting cute monsters. Players tame them and store them inside special items (cards). Both the concept and the visual design of Temtem resembles the famous Japanese franchise. A number of publications call Temtem a “Pokémon clone”.

Recently it was reported that the game took 12th place in the top of the best new products in January on Steam. According to its authors, the experience of developing the previous title, Immortal Redneck, helped to make Temtem successful.

“We realized that we needed to attract the community at the early stages of development, and not wait for the release to collect feedback. We didn’t work out certain things well enough (in Immortal Redneck), which ultimately damaged the perception of the game by the public; so our start was not the most successful. With Temtem, we plan to change this,” the developers write.

The full release of Temtem may take place in the 2nd or 3rd quarter of 2021. Crema also wants to release the game on current-generation consoles, including the Nintendo Switch.
