The chief of Microsoft's Xbox division has joined the company's top management

The head of the Xbox division, Phil Spencer, was promoted to executive vice president of Microsoft and became one of the 16 top managers of the company.

In his new position, Spencer will be able to influence decisions that determine Microsoft’s policy on development issues and other important areas.

The inclusion of Spencer in the top management of the company testifies to the importance of the gaming direction in the vast field of Microsoft’s business activities.

According to the results of the last quarter, Microsoft’s gaming business revenue grew by 9% to $9 billion. The Xbox Live system on PC, consoles and mobile devices is used by 53 million users.

Phil Spencer’s appointment came on the eve of the release of a new generation of the Xbox One X console and a line of mixed reality headsets.
