Tekken 7 launched on Steam more successfully than Street Fighter V
The debut of the 7th part of the Tekken fighting game series on Steam surpassed the competitor in the Street Fighter V genre in the number of players by 28% – 18,743 against 14,155 gamers per hour on the launch day.
This is reported by the game statistics service GitHyp.
Average number of Tekken 7 players per hour on Steam
It is worth considering that the player base in Tekken is divided between PC, Playstation 4 and Xbox One platforms, while SFV is available only on PS4 and PC.
After the launch of Street Fighter V, gamers criticized Capcom for the lack of feedback and frequent server maintenance failures.
It seems that Bandai Namco decided not to repeat these mistakes and released the first patch a week after the launch.
As of today, Street Fighter V has lost 84% of Steam players since its launch, but interest in the game is supported by a major esports tournament Evolution Championship Series, which will be held in Las Vegas on July 14-16.
GitHyp suggests that by next year, Tekken 7 may deprive Street Fighter V of the title of the main fighting game.
