Valve has launched a service for publishing games Steam Direct

Steam Direct, a service for self—publishing games in the Valve store, began its work on June 13.

Simultaneously with the launch of Steam Direct, Valve has published instructions for developers who want to use the new tool.

Publishing games via Steam Direct consists of three steps: preparation of documents, payment for service services and testing.

First, developers need to provide general information about the company, provide bank details to receive gaming revenue. In some cases, the service may require proof of identity.

The registration fee for Steam Direct today is $100 for 1 game. Developers will be able to reimburse this fee after their project earns $ 1 thousand.

After submitting the documents and playing on Steam Direct, each title will be tested for stability and compliance with the description of the developers.

“We don’t want to burden developers and gamers with a long certification process, but we need to be sure that the new game will be displayed correctly and won’t damage users’ computers. The process will take 1-2 days,” Valve explained.

Valve has also updated documentation on the API, tools and functions of the service for Steamworks developers.
