Windows 10 S will block the oxygen of Steam and GOG
The new version of the Microsoft operating system allows the installation of software only from the official Windows Store.
The restriction is explained by the Windows Store rules introduced on March 29 of this year. According to them, “Windows Store content must be certified by Microsoft in order to ensure the quality and security of your devices.”
The restriction may hit Steam, GOG and other digital stores that will not be able to sell content on Windows S 10.
Microsoft offers authors of third-party applications to convert their products with the Desktop Bridge tool into a package that can be distributed through the Windows Store.
Microsoft introduced Windows 10 S on May 2. The system is designed for use on inexpensive laptops and is aimed at students of schools and universities. Its launch will take place in the second half of 2017.
