Hong Kong Publisher Raises $5 million Investment for Virtual Garfield

Mobile publisher Animoca Brands from Hong Kong has raised more than $5 million in investment funds for the development of a series of media products dedicated to Garfield the cat.

The head of Animoca Brands, Robby Yung, said that the money will be used to expand the company’s portfolio with e-books for children, VR projects and other products provided by subscription.

“We are focused on increasing our efforts to develop our games and e—books as we want to expand cooperation with leading brands and reach the audience,” Jung said.

To implement this idea, Animoca Brands renewed the contract with the owner of the rights to Garfield, Paws, Inc.

In total, the Hong Kong publisher managed to raise about $16 million in investments.

In addition to Garfield, Animoca Brands produces media content for a number of animated titles: Doraemon, Ben 10, the Mattel doll universe and others.
