Microsoft has opened development for Xbox for everyone

Microsoft has launched an Xbox Live Creators Program for developers, within which they can create and publish games on the Xbox One and Windows 10 platforms.

The Xbox Live Creators Program exists alongside the ID@Xbox program, which allows independent developers to independently release their projects on Xbox and PC.

Enthusiasts will only need an Xbox One console to work on their project.

“You haven’t been able to create games on a consumer—grade console since the Commodore 64,” said Chris Charla, head of the ID@Xbox program.

However, Xbox Live Creators Program participants will face a number of restrictions related to the use of the universal Windows platform (Unified Windows platform) — they will not get access to the Xbox Live achievement system, multiplayer matchmaking and other services.

Games created as part of the Xbox Live Creators Program will be placed in a separate section of the Xbox Games Store. For participation in the program, you will have to pay a one-time fee in the amount of $ 20 to $ 100.
