In the first quarter of 2016, only 1% of publishers accounted for more than 90% of revenue from paid apps and IAP in the US App Store.

The analytical company Sensor Tower writes about this in its blog.

This means, as the company’s specialists write, that of the $1.43 billion generated in the first three months by the store (this is without 30% coming from Apple), $1.34 billion went to 623 companies. The remaining $85.8 million was distributed among the remaining 61 thousand publishers.

Here Sensor Tower counted only those publishers who monetized their application using IAP, or who had it paid.

Downloads are distributed in a different proportion. 1% of publishers account for 70% of installations.

In total, Sensor Tower found 127 thousand publishers in the American App Store (the company’s specialists interpret this concept more broadly than is customary, meaning those who independently publish applications in the store).
