Amazon has announced that by June 10, 2026, it will halt support for external game stores, individual game purchases, and external subscriptions on its cloud gaming service, Luna.

The company explained that it is modifying its strategy concerning third-party content. Amazon is moving away from models that include different subscriptions, game stores, and à-la-carte options to focus on solutions that it believes will enhance the customer experience in the future.

After the specified date, only users with either a standard or premium subscription will have access to their Luna game library.

Amazon will cease the availability of the EA, Ubisoft, and GOG stores on Luna. Moreover, subscriptions like Ubisoft+ and Jackbox Games via Luna will also be discontinued.

The service will also retire the 'Bring Your Own Library' option that allowed consumers to play games bought elsewhere using Luna's platform.

While games accessed through these external methods can be played until the specified shutdown date, afterward, they will no longer be available on Luna. Players will still be able to access these games with their third-party accounts, and no refunds will be provided by Amazon.

Users will have a window of 90 days following June 10 to download their game saves, although Amazon warns that compatibility with other gaming platforms might not be assured.

Luna was launched by Amazon in 2020, and it competes with cloud gaming services from major players like Google, Microsoft, and PlayStation.

Initially, using Luna required an independent subscription, but now the standard service is incorporated into Amazon Prime. There is also a higher-tier subscription available, offering access to a wider selection of games.
