Microsoft has announced its commitment to "continue to support Forza Motorsport and Forza Horizon 5," even in light of recent reductions at Turn 10.
Microsoft has committed to ongoing support for Forza Motorsport and Forza Horizon 5, even after recent reductions at Turn 10 Studios. Both Turn 10 Studios and Playground Games will sustain their backing for these titles, as communicated in a recent announcement.
A post on X from the Forza Motorsport official account, dated August 7, conveys the message: "Dear Forza Community, we know many of you have questions about what’s next for the Forza franchise, and we appreciate the support of our incredible community. We wanted to assure players that Turn 10 and Playground Games will continue to support Forza Motorsport and Forza Horizon 5."
In July, Microsoft disclosed significant layoffs in its gaming segment, echoing speculation from earlier reports. Notably, on July 2, Jason Schreier from Bloomberg reported that Raven Software, known for Call of Duty, was affected by these layoffs. Furthermore, it was indicated that nearly half of Turn 10 Studios' workforce faced redundancy. However, specific figures remain unverified by Microsoft.
Fred Russell, a content coordinator at Turn 10 Studios, confirmed via a Facebook post that the team in charge of Forza Motorsport has ceased operations and the studio's involvement with the franchise has been halted. Despite this, support for Forza Horizon titles is poised to continue with current staff focusing on Forza Horizon 6, anticipated for a 2026 release alongside Playground Games.
Additionally, Chris Harding, formerly a designer at Turn 10, alleged in a response to Russell's post that 120 team members had been let go, though this figure has not been verified by the company. Meanwhile, Microsoft has not only reduced headcounts at Turn 10 and Raven Software but has also closed The Initiative, terminating several Xbox projects, including the Perfect Dark reboot from The Initiative, Blackbird MMORPG by Zenimax Online Studios, and Rare's Everwild.
