Gun Interactive has announced they will cease further development and support for their asymmetrical multiplayer game, The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, by May 2025.

According to a statement from the company, the decision comes from their belief that the game has reached its full potential. The title was originally launched in August 2023.

The statement mentioned, "After our upcoming May patch, no additional DLC, balance changes, or bug fixes will be made available. However, players can anticipate a few more updates as we transition to peer-to-peer matchmaking."

Contrary to some games that are removed from digital platforms when support ends, like Marvel's Avengers, The Texas Chain Saw Massacre will continue to be available for purchase.

The company emphasized, "The game will remain playable and it will not be withdrawn from storefronts. Our community team will stay engaged with players, continuing to celebrate what makes The Texas Chain Saw Massacre special for us all."

This announcement has led to negative reviews from some Steam users. Data from Steam Charts shows that the game's peak concurrent player count was 1,677 in April.

The final part of the statement stressed the completion of their creative vision. "It is essential for us as a creative studio to affirm that we have fully realized this project," Gun Interactive said.

They also teased the continuation of their work with a nod to future endeavors: "We're eager to keep creating your favorite horror games with our next project already underway."
