ZeniMax QA employees plan to go on strike amid worries regarding a return-to-office requirement and outsourcing issues

Today, ZeniMax Studios is experiencing a significant employee strike over issues related to its remote work policies and the outsourcing of quality assurance tasks.

Last month, the Communication Workers of America lodged an unfair labor practice complaint against ZeniMax. The union accused the company of failing to consult them before outsourcing QA responsibilities.

Members of ZeniMax Workers United-CWA have expressed concerns that outsourcing could jeopardize job security, particularly during a time of widespread layoffs in the gaming industry.

The strike is occurring across various ZeniMax locations in the United States, including offices in Maryland and Texas.

In a related event last month, QA employees at Activision in Eden Prairie, Minnesota, staged a walkout against mandatory office return policies. The activist group ABetterABK accused the company of denying reasonable accommodations to force resignations.

ZeniMax Workers United-CWA gained recognition in January 2023 as the first union in a video game studio within Microsoft, representing more than 300 QA employees in Maryland and Texas.
