Kongregate has launched an incubator for independent developers

The daughter of the retailer GameStop announced Launchpad, a program to help indie teams in game design, creating UI and UX, setting up monetization, promotion and analytics.

Also, participants who have entered the program will be provided with financial support. However, it is not specified exactly how much the company is ready to invest in the creation of each game.

It is assumed that following the results of participation in Launchpad, the games will appear on the Kongregate portal. If a particular game is successful on the web site, Kongregate will be ready to act as its mobile publisher.

“It’s much faster and cheaper to create games for the web, plus, this will allow us to abandon the modern template in which publishers are looking for projects close to completion,” commented Emily Greer, CEO of Kongregate.

Recall that this is not the first such initiative for the company. In February 2013, the gaming portal announced the opening of a $10 million investment fund for mobile developers.

Among the games that were released with the support of the foundation, such titles as War Metal Tyrant, BloodRealm, Sheep Happens and many others.
