Rami Ismail: My mistakes cost Vlambeer Studio $1.03 million

Rami Ismail, co-founder of the Dutch indie studio Vlambeer, spoke about the mistakes made. They, according to him, cost the company $1.03 million. About this, with reference to Izmail’s speech during the Gamelab 2015 conference, the resource writes PocketGamer.biz .

One of the first mistakes of Izmail was “inability to negotiate”.

On a deal with Cartoon Network animation company, Vlambeer studio earned only $ 30 thousand. A familiar developer of Izmail in a similar situation received $ 60 thousand.

“The second mistake: our project was rejected,” says Izmail. Vlambeer studio created a flash game Radical Fishing in 2010. Indie developers planned to release it on iOS under the name Ridiculous Fishing. The work was carried out in complete secrecy. Therefore, when in 2011 the Gamenauts studio copied the Radical Fishing mechanics, named the title Ninja Fishing and launched it on iOS, Vlambeer had nothing to show them. The clone earned a million dollars, Ismail believes.

He is sure that failures are a positive experience. “I realized that making mistakes is not a bad thing. Every time you make a mistake, you learn something. The only thing not to do is not to repeat other people’s mistakes,” the co-founder of Vlambeer emphasizes.
