GREE has closed its office in Canada
The Japanese company GREE has announced the closure of its game studio in Vancouver.
This was officially announced by the operating director of GREE International Andrew Sheppard (Andrew Sheppard) in the company’s blog: “We are taking another difficult step towards becoming a global gaming giant in the West again. GREE International closes its office in Vancouver and stops the development of all mobile games of this studio.”
This quote, of course, causes a smile, but Shepard himself reveals it in some detail in his letter. He moved from Kabam to GREE 8 months ago and immediately came across the fact that specialists of very different levels of competence worked in the same company. The “layer” of managers and mentors was very thin, it affected the quality of projects. As a result, for six months, a decision was made to, let’s say, move away from extensive growth to intensive.
GREE Canada was founded in 2012. It was assumed that she would develop mobile games. However, it is not known what kind of projects she was involved in and whether she released at least one game in three years.
