ZeptoLab Code Rush 2015: results of the Sports Programming Championship
The other day, ZeptoLab held a sports programming championship together with the Codeforces resource. Viktor Korsun, head of the Client development department at the company, shared the details with us.
Spring is traditionally a “hot” time for programming competitions: many companies hold contests in the spring and early summer. On April 6, the All-Russian Olympiad of Schoolchildren started in Arkhangelsk, and therefore, unfortunately, about 250 strong participants did not take part in our competition – on the evening of April 4, they were all on their way. A total of 5504 participants were registered at ZeptoCodeRush 2015.
We pre-selected the date of the competition in the fall of 2014, and approved it at the end of February. This competition is the second for us, so its organization was much easier. The internal work is not visible from the participants, but it has been in the active phase for about a month.
The main reason why we decided to hold the programming championship together with Codeforces for the second time is the desire to take an active part in the life of the Russian IT community. We know that Russian programmers are the best in the world and understand the importance of the sports programming movement for young developers. It is very important for us to participate in the development of this movement.
The strongest algorithmists from all over the world took part in the competition. The victory was won by Gennady Korotkevich, a Belarusian genius, now studying at St. Petersburg ITMO.
It’s too early to talk about the tangible benefits of the past competition for the company. We are very pleased with the last contest, but the tangible effect of these events is greatly stretched over time. Now we invite guys who have shown good results and are interested in game development to visit. The winners of ZeptoCodeRush 2015 will receive commemorative badges, iPhone 6, iPad mini with Retina display, plush om-noms and special championship vests.
