Exclusive: the average retention rate of games on Windows Phone is higher than on iOS and Android
The highest average retention level in mobile games over the past year was observed in games released on Windows Phone, – analysts from devtodev told us.
They came to these conclusions by calculating the global average retention rates in mobile games downloaded from the world’s leading sites: Apple App Store, Google Play, Amazon Appstore and, accordingly, Windows Phone (for the period from January 1, 2014 to January 1, 2015).
As you can see from the picture below, a serious gap persists for all periods. Analysts pay special attention to the gap between holding for 28 days on games for Windows Phone and for other sites.
If Windows Phone games by the end of the month demonstrate a decent level of retention – at the level of 13%, then, for example, iPhone games, on average in the market, show about 6%.
The company’s analysts do not rule out that such a picture is a consequence of “a lower level of competition between applications for Windows Phone.”
Partly in support of this thesis is the fact that games downloaded from Google Play show the least retention.
