Zynga CEO Leaves Company
Don Mattrick, CEO of Zynga since July 2013, is leaving the company. The founder of Zynga, Mark Pincus, returns to the post of CEO.
“I’m going back to the company I love to accelerate innovation in the most popular categories, like Action Strategy,” Pinkus said, “and focus on our key areas, like “Invest and Get” [in the original Invest and Express – that’s what Mark calls those games in which a player invests time and money to then see on the screen the result of investments, including cows, farms, and so on, – approx.editorial offices].
“I think now is the right time for me to step down as CEO and let Mark lead the company into the next chapter,” commented Mattrick, who has led Zynga since July 2013.
Don left not only the post of CEO, but also the chair on the board of directors of the company. According to him, he plans to return to Canada now “to meet the next challenge.”
Mattrick has managed quite a lot in two years. He carried out mass layoffs in the company, changed the entire top management, transferred the company to “mobile rails”, acquired a successful NaturalMotion and as a result… finished last year with a loss of $226 million.
